Week in the Life 2015 | Sunday

This week’s theme is Week in the Life™ 2015 – a free annual documentation project lead by Ali Edwards that’s all about documenting your every day, one week out of the year. As someone recently said, “next year, you’ll be disappointed you didn’t start this year.” It’s about capturing your regular moments. Or what is regular right now. It’s about getting all of those little things that years from now, will seem anything but regular. It’s a point of reference. And it’s a lot of fun. To follow along on my project, check back here daily, or use my Week in the Life™ tag. You can also get more tips from on Instagram (@julieloveg) and twitter (@juliegagen). — Sunday, sunday, sunday. Well, friends, like most intensive life documentation projects, I have reached my fill of daily photography for Week in the Life™. I LOVE this project. I love that it has come to conclusion. And I love that I did it all as it happened. And I love that it’s nearly complete. Just yesterday I …

Our work-on-the-house day. Our get-things-done day. Our small projects and big ideas day. Each one has a theme. And theme of this day was LANDSCAPING. With all the caps. We tended to our garden, made our first batch of tomato sauce for the season, ripped out old plants, bought new ones, planted grass in our backyard, …

A spontaneous choice in plans, an adventure to the city, parenting challenges and small victories, and time spent with friends. In a way, the events of today are reflective of the theme of our week: work, play, friends, gathering – and, of course, lots of photos for my …

I’ve heard and read people talk about how they want to capture “normal” weeks. And I totally get that. But if that’s all we had this week, I feel like …

A few friends (that are also moms) decided to put our kids in daycare and take an extended lunch – with pedicures. It‘s one of those things that different friends groups have talked about for years, but it never happened. I feel SO lucky to have found this small group. And …

I love this day of the week, mostly because I love sharing this work. If you’re just tuning into this series, check the intro above for links to previous months. Friends, this gets more fun every month. Honestly, each time I think I’ve seen the BEST products or made my BEST layouts, it happens again. And it’s an awesome feeling. Project Life App Pages – April This month started off with Easter and a fun family gathering with my extended family. And while I didn’t capture the entire family in the blown up photo on the right hand page (me included), I still have the essence of the day in this two-page layout. Project Life App Tip | If …

Click these links to check out my January and February pages. It’s Wednesday and you know what that means – more Project Life App pages! I love this day of the week, mostly because I love sharing this work. If you missed last week’s post, be sure to read through my photo editing and layout process! It’s definitely worth the read. Project Life App Pages – March This month I played with some really fun new kits in the Project Life App and I did some different, and really fun, things. First, this month the Boys Rule Value kit was released. I have to say: I’m totally in love with this kit! If it was in a white color scheme, I would consider using it every month. Honestly, it’s so fun and BLUE and boyish (which is my life!) that it really suits the colors …

Project Life 2015 | February App Pages

Last week I introduced my Project Life App pages for January. This week, I’m sharing my work for February. But before we get right into it, I wanted to share a little bit about my photo editing and page-making process. My Process First, I take about half of my photos with my iPhone 5 camera, and about half with my canon DSLR. For iPhone photos, I edit in the PicTapGo app and save them on my phone. For DSLR photos, I adjust “brightness” and “black point” in the Photos App on my iMac. When I’m ready to start building pages (which I do monthly, not weekly), I pull all of my pictures into Dropbox (from my desktop). When I’m ready to start building my pages, I bring the pictures from Dropbox (the app) into the Project Life App when I’m ready to start building a layout. This year, because I’m doing 4 layouts per month (instead of one each week), I typically select photos that would look best together. Once the photos are loaded in …

Project Life 2015 | January App Pages

Remember when I announced I was on the Project Life Creative Team and I was super excited because my role was to work with the iPhone App to make my quick and easy (and affordable!) scrapbook pages for my digital album? Ya, I do too. And yet – while I’ve shared my pages regularly on Instagram – I’ve never shared them here. Not at all. And it’s May! It’s time to change that. Over the next few weeks I’ll catch you up – month by month – on my Project Life App pages. Here’s January. January Pages – Detail One of the biggest “ah-ha” moments I’ve had with the Project Life App was the moment I realized I didn’t have to write on every journaling card. You see, in the Project Life system there are two cards: filler cards (meant for filling space) and journaling cards (meant for adding text). It’s probably the engineer in me (play by the rules, this is the “right way”), but I always feel like – if something is intended …
